Never. OS X is a brand, it's not really an OS version number. If/when Apple eventually ditches OS X or changes it significantly enough, it will have a new name and identity. (Or maybe it will become iOS X. ;) )

Don't know what is more ridiculous, the pat down of the little girl or the mother asking for a re-scan. I op out every single time I travel. It is not evident (and the TSA flunkies don't really know) whether a given device is a backscatter scanner or a an active or passive terahertz wave scanner. There is currently no long term evidence that backscatter or active terahertz wave scanners do not have side effects, especially for frequent travelers. Unless they switch all scanners to passive terahertz wave scanners, I will continue to opt out and if they ever make these scans mandatory without the opt out option, I will refuse to fly.

WTH? Whoever wrote this clearly doesn't have any idea about what has been going on in architecture in, oh, the past 150 years. I met Peter Bohlin last year and we got to talking about his design strategies. He's been doing similar work throughout his career, even before BCJ (then Bohlin Powell) was founded in 1965. Check out Japanese architecture from the past 1,500 years.

Please tell me where I said that I thought that Apple monitors were better than Dell monitors in anything other than asthetics? I have not made any claim anywhere!
All I said was that tech specs in some places were listed different so something about the panel seems to be different. Yes I bought an Apple monitor, yes I'm an Apple fanboy because I like the look of their electronics, but no I never stated that Apple's monitors were functionally better. On the contrary my statements are to the effect that Dell montiors show functionally better specs, so logically aren't they (not Apple) using the better panel.
Also, what say you to blonde redhead's post about Apple and Dell using different suppliers? Is that correct, or more disinformation.

I can't imagine why Apple would have an event like this if there was going to be only Disney content available.
Remember that when tv shows were first made available, there weren't many to choose from.
Even if it is just Disney right now, that along with new iPods is enough for this much hype, especially when they want the press before the holiday season.

I thought about that, getting one cpu now and getting another one down the road, but the board was only $200 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128423) in this case maybe 2 systems would be better than one - if I get another one down the road or if Apple EVER gets around to making a new Mac Pro :rolleyes:

Perhaps Apple is selling less of the newly released iPods than they thought 'cos many people are holding off until the iPod Video is released...
They can't be bummed since they aren't advertising it. The average consumer probably couldn't even tell it's been upgraded (except for the screen brightness)

1) If you want to contact someone senior in Microsoft, contact an MVP first. There are MVPs for XBox. MVPs have many contacts inside Microsoft, and if they see fit, might forward your request.
2) If you have a wireless network, and other devices can connect to it, then chances are you are using NAT. If you are using NAT, then both your own computer and the XBox360 would have the same public IP address, in which case you already know your public IP. Therefore, the IP address of the XBox is irrelevant - in this case.
3) If the thief in question has left the area, and connects to the internet again through another network, then they will obviously have a different IP Address, and you can possibly use route #1 to track down the individual.
You also mentioned that you know the device has been on the internet because of certain internet services. If you can contact one of those - after the device reconnects - it might be easier to get the device's IP address from those individuals rather than Microsoft.
(bear in mind, Microsoft might be legally bound to not give out user-identifiable information, irrespective of the circumstances)
So if you can get the IP in question, you now know the ISP in question, and the ISP would (should) be able to track which user account or telephone number or address was using that particular IP address at that particular time.
This of course brings you back to the original problem of tracking down where the unit is etc. etc., but it makes more sense to do this now.
I'm sure there is something you could have done or will be able to do in relation to checking signal strength from other devices by walking around with a laptop in order to figure out a rough location of the wireless device.
They could do this in the 40s with radio transmissions so I'm sure it's not beyond the realms of possibility to do it in the 21st century :)

Thought I would post here instead of starting a new thread. How do I get bonus points, all I am reading is -advmethods and setting up a passkey. Would it be worth it on a i7 720qm at 1.66ghz? Would it complete a wu in 4 days?
This passkey sounds like a big deal should I be using it on all me machines?
With the console client for windows, is there a way I can close the window with out it stopping folding, kind of pointless having the window constantly open. Surely it can fold in the background?

I can't really agree with this. The last thing I want is a bunch of different places to buy music.

I'm about to hit the store. I asked last year about doubling up my education discount and the Black Friday one. I was told that I couldn't. :(
The EPP still seems valid today though according to the web store. My brother has an EPP through this company vs. the government. It'll hopefully still hold true.

What's hilarious is that you guys are arguing about beta software and a product that, up until this point, has been a huge disaster. Asking someone to rotate a raw image 180 degrees with a straightening tool is absurd. It isn't meant to do that. End of story.
I am not sure how many of you are professional photographers, but I can tell you that most of us have tried both products and are still using what works best: Iview media pro and C1 Pro (as well as photo mechanic for iptc info in batches). All 3 products have been around forever, and work flawlessly. What's comical, is that running all 3 of those apps concurently, is faster than running only aperture on my powerbook G4, as well as on my Mac Pro.
Aperture is a pig even on a shiny new mac pro compared to C1 and Iview. Lightroom just doesn't feel complete, and to be frank, the way the program is laid out is annoying as hell when you need to get things done quickly (like when filing from a football game, on deadline while sorting through 1000+ shots). It takes all day just to even get them imported into aperture, while I view does it in about 2 minutes. In 2 minutes, I can be choosing selects and sepertating the wheat from the chaff. This is not the case with either aperture or lightroom.
