Almost all my personal friends I spoke to recently who did not want to help with IV stuff, now proudly claim "As Obama has become the president, he will do something for us to get the green card"

People come on IV only to blame IV and admins for all the problems in their lives, but when asked to help for IV stuff - they give red dots and leave bad comments

i just don't see what the fuss is about. people from india usually waited 5-6 years for a GC historically, and it's about the same, give or take one year, even now. so i don't see why 4 years of wait after i-485 is being made out to be such a big deal only NOW.......????

If your PD is EB2/EB3 India 2006 or 2007 its gonna be a 10 year wait. Atleast.
Dates have not been so badly retrogressed, ever (7 years for EB3 India!). Demand has never been so high, ever. Lots of things have led to this HUGE backlog of demand (namechecks, LC delays, increased H1 quotas in 2000/01/02, increased use of L1). The IN queue has never been this long, by an order of magnitude, and the OUT queue has remained the same for decades. We are screwed unless there are some admin fixes.

It was for medical form:
1) As X-Ray report was missing (and my medical report had +ve in TB test),
2) My physician was no longer in USCIS's current list of doctors.

See buddy, there are some people who will cry whatever scenario they are in, and some people who will laugh and be happy in whatever scenario they are in. The key to optimism and happy life is to find someone who has it worse, and realize how fortunate you are. At least you are not having to live in the slums of India. At least you are not having your daughter breathe the polluted air of an Indian metro. At least you have a healthy family and no medical emergencies to worry about. Enjoy what you have got, not crib about what you've got.

Agreed! But when you call your bank to send you a debit card, they send it in days if not in weeks....that shows a sign of inter-dependability and a sense of need for each other. Sort of...I need you, you need me. You do not have to file MTR if they don't send you a debit card within 10 days.
Compare that with US consulate and DOS VISA bulletin and GC process...

Please do not assume somebody is doing a favor on you. You contribute and work hard. You will get benefits. Same applies to the other party also. xyzgc. I agree with your risk assessment personally. However, the risk aversion threshold is an individual thing. Some people never drive on the fast lane, and some people jump off a cliff tied to a rope. So, IMHO, it's unfair to say something is stupid and foolish. It's just that somebody might just like to live a little more dangerously than you are (and reap more benefits if things go well).

Surprised by visa bulletin mentioning cutoff dates for EB1, EB2 & EB3 ROW & philipines instead of U.
Does this mean EB1, EB2 & EB3 ROW cases are not backlogged ? (i.e USCIS approved all it could on July1st 2007 but still visa numbers left?)
Or were these cases waiting for FBI check so could not use up visa numbers??
Either way, in a month or so (after all July VB cases are entered into database, USCIS would know its true backlog). Wish it would announce such a backlog number and make realistic predictions for when cases will be approved.
Given the recent announcement from whitehouse regarding expedited FBI checks, maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
But hey, lets keep pushing, we dont want hope to be a mirage do we.

Today I got a mail from a H1B person with German nationality and suffering due to green card issues. He is planning to go back to Germany. He found us through wikipedia.
Great work, keep it up. I hope more people contribute to this effort. Only a handful have participated and few have just suggested a link in their post instead of posting themselves on the sites.
It takes only 15 minutes to help!
If you dont know where to post, just google- 'desi forums' indian forums' 'immigration forums' 'desi classifieds' 'chineese forums' etc kind of keywords and you wll find plenty to get started.
All these efforts are small behind the scenes efforts for IV publicity and are very important for our visibility, awareness, membership drive and search engine rankings. You maybe an annonymous soldier in this effort but your effort will be useful. I hope more people help out with this idea.

Just because the quota got over the first day it implies that the system is abused, right? Let me tell who is abused. People waiting for green card are abused. Not fixing green card delays and deliberately keeping the debate around H-1b is an abuse.

Can anyone suggest hotels and/or if already booked can you post those hotel name & locations?
Also, just a suggestion, this thread is getting complicated as far as matching donors with travelers is concerned... May be create a Google spreadsheet with all the donors (miles, accommodations) and match them with travelers from just one central location?
